This entry will describe the use cases developed for the site.

I am in the process of diagramming out the new CodeUpdate4U.com.  This will be my first project based on a framework, and I have chosen Symfony for that task.  I chose it becauase it seemed to be in the top 1-2 of a lot of developers out there and, with some further reading, I believe it can meet all the goals I have set out for it.

My little girl, Hannah Elise Smith, was born today, March 11th at 12:14pm!  She's a sweetheart, weighing in at a hefty 7 pounds with a length of 22 inches.  It's such an odd feeling, hearing a baby cry and know that I'm the one that's supposed to take care of her!

While browsing iStockPhoto for images for a project, I apparently made the cartoon octopus angry!

We've been working hard over the last several months to build an online courseware system based on the open-source Moodle project.  The official launch was on December 1, and since then, dozens of contractors in the Virginia and surrounding areas have signed up to take these refresher courses from the comfort of their home or office.

CodeUpdate4U.com, a leading provider of Virginia State Mechanical Code review classes, will begin offering online classes early in 2009 and expand it's offerings to include the Plumbing and Electrical codes.  Sails Digital is already at work building an online coursework and testing platform to comply with Virginia State Regulations.

Annie's Steakhouse has just opened their online ordering website, designed by Sails Digital. This semi-custom work will enable Mike to take orders, receive payments, and manage shipments for bay specialties and Certified Angus Beef steaks.

So we officially moved into the new house, still on the Eastern Shore, in January.  In this house, Sails Digital has an official office, almost 200 square feet which to call home.  This should translate into a better, more productive work habit, but, thus far, (monumental time) commitments with work have precluded a smooth transition to more Sails Digital.

We've moved out and have yet to move in.  The next month will be an interesting period, as we bounce from house to house without a permanent home.  We hope to close on the 22nd of January, and soon after have permanent high speed internet connectivity restored.  Until then, please be patient with us!  We are still checking email every evening, so we'll get back to you, but updates may take a few more days than usual!  Thanks in advance for your understanding!

This article, which I came across one evening, describes the birth and adolescence of Adobe's Photoshop. Even though I don't use Photoshop much in my work (I prefer Macromedia's Adobe's Fireworks), I got a chuckle out of looking at the softwares humble beginnings, way back in 1990. The article comes out of PEI magazine, now out of print, from their Feb 2000 issue.

On Monday, March 5th, Sails Digital unveiled the newly redesigned Chartwell Education Group web presence. Working closely with the Chartwell team, Sails Digital designed a new template to fit around existing and new content. We created a custom news module for their use, as well.
